Corn Tunes
for clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, and vibraphone
Performed by the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble
Tim Weiss, conductor
Corn Tunes was written during and after long walks around the New Russia Township in Lorain County, Ohio. Much of the inspiration of the piece comes from jazz harmony, renaissance counterpoint, and other composers such as John Adams and Pat Metheny, who both have expressed different facets of the North American landscape with their music.
